Quite a lot has been going on:

Aston Martin to replace Mercedes in DTM

The DTM has confirmed that Aston Martin is set to replace Mercedes as the third marque on the grid alongside Audi and BMW following the Stuttgart brand’s withdrawal

The Aston entry will come courtesy of Team R-Motorsport, which is part of Swiss team AF Racing. R-Motorsport already has close ties with the British car maker, after running its offerings in GT races. The squad will be responsible for the DTM project, which is licensed and supported by both Aston Martin and a recently founded joint venture with HWA, which will be responsible for the development, building and running of the Aston Martin DTM racers, with HWA deemed to be the perfect partner for the project thanks to its extensive DTM experience.

R Motorsport (AF Racing AG) The Most Significant New Entity In European Endurance Racing?

The DSC Editor spent a happy afternoon in the (it should be said very happy) Blancpain GT Series paddock over last weekend.

One hugely positive encounter was with Dr. Andreas Baenziger, a long-time acquaintance via the N’rburgring 24 Hours, he and his business partner Dr. Florian Kamelger were part of the Aston Martin Test Centre Race programme for almost a decade, the last year with an R Motorsport Aston Martin GT4, me as part of the Radio Show Limited radio team covering the race from the comfort of the Aston Martin Drivers Lounge.

Now though he and Florian Kamelger have new roles, as co-owners of AF Racing AG / AF for Andreas and Florian who field the R Motorsport Aston Martin GT3 effort in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup with support from Arden Motorsport and Jota Sport.

‘Radical vision of the future’ – Audi’s reveals all-electric E-Tron sports car concept

For the first time, Audi is presenting a concept car with an acute design and technology focus at Pebble Beach Automotive Week in Monterey, California. The all-electric Audi PB18 E-Tron represents “a radical vision for the high-performance sports car of tomorrow.”

* * *

Conceived and created in the new Audi design studio in Malibu, California, with the benefit of extensive experience gained in the wind tunnel and on the race track, its very presence signals that it is destined to push boundaries.

* * *

The technical concept behind the PB18 E-Tron has been devised using expertise gained during the phenomenally successful Audi Le Mans racing programme, and the realisation of that concept was the responsibility of the experts at Audi Sport, the Audi high-performance subsidiary.
