The Morris County Tournament seeds have been finalized and West Morris, No. 9 in the NJ.com Top 20, is the top seed in the bracket. Defending champion Morris Knolls, No.

Defending champion Morris Knolls, No. 10 in the NJ.com Top 20, is the second seed in the tournament. Hanover Park, Randolph, Mendham and Roxbury round out the top seeds and all six of those top teams will receive a bye.

The preliminary round must be played by Sunday, Sept. 23, and the first round must be played before Sunday, Sept. 30. The quarterfinal round must be played by Sunday, Oct. 7, and the semifinals will take place on Sunday, Oct. 14.

Excitement Over Roxbury Fall Sports and First High School Gymnastics Team

ROXBURY, NJ – Scrimmages for Roxbury High School’s fall sports began this week and Roxbury High School Athletics Director Stu Mason is optimistic about the upcoming season.

Many of last year’s Roxbury teams lost star players to graduation, but Mason said there are plenty of veteran athletes remaining. “Our athletes have been working hard all summer long in the weight room and practice field preparing for this upcoming fall season,” he said. “We have high expectations, as usual, for our athletes and for our program.It will be a season with something new: The high school, for the first time, is fielding a girls gymnastics team.

Cannon School girls continue golf dominance; other area athletes to watch (week of Sept. 4)

Cannon School Girls’ Golf Team: The Cannon School girls’ golf team tries to play to their own standard every time they compete on the course, whether it’s practice, a match or a tournament, according to Cougars’ coach Pat Whisenant.

After going undefeated in nine matches (including four tournaments wins) and winning their fifth state championship in the last six years last fall, the Cannon School girls’ golf team looked just as focused in their first two matches of 2018.

The Cougars’ girls’ golf team opened the season winning the Lady Charger Invitational at River Run Country Club by 59 shots over the field. Cannon School sophomore Amanda Sambach was the medalist, shooting a 72, while junior Sophie Holland was second (73) and senior Muskan Uppal (75) was third.
