Hyundai N electric sports car confirmed with Rimac deal

The majority of the investment has come from Hyundai, and as part of the deal the two Korean automakers will establish a technology partnership with Rimac with the initial task of developing a pair of high-performance electric cars due by 2020.

One of the vehicles is confirmed as a sports car for the Hyundai N performance sub-brand. The other will be a hydrogen fuel cell-electric car likely for Kia.

The sports car was described as an electric version of Hyundai N’s ‘midship sports car,’ with the midship model in this case likely a reference to the handful of mid-engined Hyundai Velosters developed by the N division for testing purposes. The most recent was the RM16 N unveiled in 2016, which has been spotted testing at the N’rburgring on occasion.

2019 Geneva motor show world debuts list | Automotive Industry Analysis – just

The Arcfox GT is a debut for the Chinese make. This 4,570mm long electric supercar was first seen as the Arcfox 7 prototype at the 2016 Beijing motor show. BJEV makes the following claims for the scissor-door two-seater: up to 450km of range, a top speed of 260km/h, 0-100km/h in 2.7 seconds and 450kW (603hp) from the 66kWh battery pack. The company has been building the Arcfox 7 in small volumes since September 2018. A revised set of specifications was announced on press preview day.

BJEV, a listed company, is in effect a subsidiary of Beijing Auto. It also has plans for more models, one of which will be an electric crossover. A prototype of this vehicle, the Arcfox ECF, was a world debut at the Geneva show. It was styled by Walter de Silva, the former head of Design for Volkswagen AG who retired in 2015.

Hyundai Tucson N-Line previewed prior to Geneva debut

Hyundai has previewed a performance-focused variant of its’Tucson SUV‘and’confirmed a new mild hybrid variant’ahead of the’Geneva motor show.
