LOCAL SPORTS: Savannah Christian girls and boys win cross country meet

The Savannah Christian girls and boys cross country teams won team titles Tuesday as the host of the Raider Invitational.

In the girls race, Kendall Lynes of SCPS was first in 20 minutes, 50.28 seconds, with her teammates Macy Sheley (21:39.88) and Kate Britt (22:19.90) taking second and third.

Raider senior Grady Coppock won the boys race in 17:55.60. Sam Borg of Benedictine (18:17.74) was second and Alex Woods of Islands (18:18.07) finished third.’

PREP ROUNDUP: Parkview, Archer cross country teams race to wins

CARROLLTON ‘ The Parkview boys claimed first place at the Carrollton Orthopedic Invitational at Carrollton High School on Saturday.

Parkview finished the 5K meet with 133 points, topping second-place Norcross, which finished with 151. Brookwood also brought home a top-10 finish with 204 points. North Gwinnett finished 20th in the competition.

The Panthers’ Tristan Autry was the top Gwinnett finisher at the event, running the 5K in 16 minutes, 51.22 seconds for ninth place. Norcross’ Miguel Schlicht (16:51.42) and Gabriel Schlicht (16:59.95) were close behind in 10th and 11th place.

Local cross country runners ready for Broughton Invite | News, Sports, Jobs

Marietta High’s cross country teams will have both a numbers and course advantage at 9 a.m. Saturday at the annual Elizabeth S. Broughton Memorial Invitational at the Marietta Broughton Nature & Wildlife Area.

‘We have 38 kids on the roster,’ said MHS head coach Mollie Runyon, a Washington Elementary 4th-grade teacher. ‘And, we know the terrain. I mean, we’ve been practicing here since Aug. 1.’
