The Lady Tigers defeated Cactus Shadows, 3-0, winning its second 5A state title in three season at Gilbert Mesquite on Saturday.
In the second state championship played Saturday at Gilbert Mesquite High School,’ Goodyear Millennium defeated Cave Creek Cactus Shadows for’the AIA’s 5A conference girls volleyball state title, 3-0.
The conference tournament’s No. 4 seed’Lady Tigers (17-1) swept the seventh seed Cactus Shadows (15-5) for their second state title in three seasons.’

Both teams’ 2020’schedule ended like it began’squaring off against each other. Unlike their’Sept. 22 season opener at Cactus Shadows,’Millennium and the Falcons didn’t trade sets;’the Lady Tigers’forced’a fifth set tiebreaker and ultimately’lost'(25-17, 19-25, 25-19, 22-25, 13-15).
