Randy Post says he’ll coach Foothill girls volleyball two more seasons then step down

Post will coach the Knights girls team through the 2021 season before resigning so that he can focus on his club program.

Randy Post said he will continue to serve as Foothill’s girls volleyball coach for two more seasons but then will step down.

He has helped launch Unity Volleyball, a club program that is working out of American Sports Centers in Anaheim. Post said he wants to create more time to grow the Unity club.

The start of the girls volleyball season was pushed back this year from August to December because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Foothill has a strong team returning, including 2019 All-Orange County first team setter Rachel Fairbanks and All-County second team libero Lauren Bays. Bays and Fairbanks are seniors, and senior opposite hitter Grace Chillingworth is among the county’s better returnees.

The N.C. High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) provided the following statement to member schools this morning, Aug. 6.

‘At his press conference on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, Governor Roy Cooper and his health team extended Phase Two of the state’s reopening plan until at least Sept. 11. Unfortunately, this announcement means that the start of sports for the 2020-21 school year will be delayed beyond Sept. 1 for NCHSAA member schools.

‘The NCHSAA Staff and Board of Directors will review all available options, seek input from SMAC (Sports Medicine Advisory Committee), DPI (North Carolina Department of Public Instruction), a sports Ad Hoc Committee, and announce a calendar for playing sports during the upcoming school year. It is hoped that we can make this announcement prior to Aug. 17, 2020.
