The phrase “everyone’s a critic ” has never been more apt than in the year 2021. It’s as if society roll plays every single day as Danny DeVito in the episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia where he wears a ridiculous turtle-neck and wig and pretends to be a preposterously snobbish art critic.

The’Mistuoka Orochi’is a car that’s been absolutely beaten to’a bloody pulp’in forums and message boards across the internet and even on this very website. Some call it ugly, others call for them all to be crushed. That said, six years after it left production, the Orochi is starting to make an unexpected comeback. Could it be a new post-ironic generation gassing it up as the go-to car for the proud weirdo? Or maybe something more complicated than that? Either way, the fact this car is still talked about today means it at least made an impact, as polarizing as it was.

TTAC’s Best and Worst Vehicles of 2020

The end of a brutal year is upon us, and I thought we could celebrate the end of this dumpster fire that is/was 2020 by having arguments about cars.

* * *

You might remember we did a best/worst cars thing in 2018. We surveyed you, the reader, and it was fun, but also a lot of work. Too much work relative to the impact each list had. So for 2019, we were just going to do a staff list. Then I dropped the ball ‘ I got distracted by other projects and we didn’t bother with a post.

We’re going to give it a go here this year, just a brief staff list among those of us who have chosen to participate. Because this year has been so weird, there are no formal criteria. We won’t even be able to cover every category.

2020 Toyota Corolla sedan review: Ascent Sport hybrid

That’s a slightly odd line-up, but when it comes to the four-door Corolla, instead of focusing up high, could basic be best?

The 2020 Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport hybrid sedan is the cheapest ticket into Toyota’s hybrid range ‘ with a boot. For those with a preference for sedans, this is where the game starts.

Larger than the hatch it sits next to in showrooms, both with a longer wheelbase and bigger boot, the Corolla sedan promises to be both practical and frugal, without bulking up to something the size of the Camry.
