Unatego girls top Walton to stay perfect

‘It was a good team effort. We have relied on just one or two girls earlier in the season,’ Delhi coach Todd Bruce said.

Check out the details. The full 20.

Halie Lucia scored a game-high 23 points as Unatego stopped Walton in Midstate Athletic Conference play on Tuesday.

The Spartans opened up an 18-point, 30-12 lead at halftime after holding the Warriors to single digits in each of the first two quarters.

‘Our defense was the key,’ Unatego coach Bob Zeh said. ‘They are the leading three-point shooting team in our league. Our goal was to keep them down, defend the three-point line and that’s what we did.’

Walton responded by scoring 16 in the third, but Unatego nonetheless owned a 16-point edge entering the fourth. The Spartans allowed just five points in the fourth to pull away.
