Viroqua’s Delilah Vance compete in the pole vault during the Viroqua invitational track meet, Monday, May 7.

For the sixth time in the past seven years the Viroqua/YIHS girls track team can call themselves Coulee Conference champions, but it wasn’t easy. Sometimes it is easy to over look a seventh- or eighth-place finish, which are worth two and one points, respectively.

The Blackhawks found out how precious those placings can be however, needing every one of their 148 team points in order to claim the 2018 title over arch-rival Westby as the Norsemen finished with 146.5. Black River Falls finished 3rd with 91.5, Arcadia was right behind with 90, followed by GET 77, West Salem 58 and Onalaska Luther 56.
