Windber girls fall in PIAA state soccer


SOMERSET ‘ Defending PIAA Single A State Champion Shady Side Academy’s smothering defense proved to be too much for the Lady Ramblers as they shutout Windber 2-0 in state playoff girls’ soccer action.

No time for rest, as 11 WPIAL teams will be hoping to make a run at the PIAA Soccer Championship and getting to Hershey as first-round games begin tonight.

Bishop McCort celebrates the d6 1A girl’s soccer title Wednesday with a 2-1 defeat of West Branch in penalty kicks, making it two straight district titles for the Crushers (WJAC).

On the girl’s volleyball hardwood State College and Somerset brought home district 6 titles in 4A and 3A respectively.

On the pitch, Bishop McCort got the best of West Branch 2-1 (3-2 in penalty kicks) to repeat as district 6 1A champs in girl’s soccer.
