The report also presents a set of recommended actions that members of the sports ecosystem can take both during the current crisis, and in the planning for recovery and beyond. For sports organisations, the recommendations are the following:

Both on and off the field of play, all stakeholders in the Olympic Movement have been working tirelessly towards better gender balance. This commitment remained intact amid the current pandemic and its effects on all spheres of society.

Sport is one of the most powerful platforms for promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. The number of women competing at the Olympic Games has significantly increased ‘ from 34 per cent at Atlanta 1996 to an expected new record of 48.8 per cent at Tokyo 2020 and a commitment to reach full gender equality for the Olympic Games Paris 2024. The IOC has also changed the rules to allow one male and one female athlete to jointly carry their flag during the Opening Ceremony, and encourages all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to make use of this opportunity.

PARIS ‘ World No. 1 Novak Djokovic said yesterday that he has tested positive for the coronavirus, joining three other infected players who took part in his exhibition tennis tournament in the Balkans.

Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric and Viktor Troicki had all tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday and Monday after taking part in the Adria Tour, which had a daily crowd of 4,000 at Djokovic’s tennis centre in Belgrade last week.

The 33-year-old Serb revealed that he and his wife, Jelena, had both been infected by the disease after taking a test immediately upon returning to Belgrade from Zadar, where the final of the tournament last Sunday was cancelled following Dimitrov’s positive test.

Precious Adams spent so much time dancing round the living room as a child, that her mum signed her up for dance lessons. She trained at several top ballet schools, including the National Ballet School of Canada, the Princess Grace Academy in Monaco and the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow.

She was promoted to first artist by the English National Ballet in 2017, and won the Emerging Artist Award at the Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards the following year. She has been credited with opening up a conversation on ballet dancers being able to wear tights that match their skin tone.
