Airbus BelugaXL high-capacity transports started operating

Airbus SE is a European multinational aerospace corporation. The company has three divisions: Commercial Aircraft, Defence and Space, and Helicopters.

Airbus has started operating the first of the six BelugaXL high-capacity transports it is building to facilitate production ramp-up.

EASA certification was secured in November 2019, following a test campaign of more than 700h across some 200 flights since the first in July 2018.

Two months after the Airbus BelugaXL gained European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) type certification, the OEM’s first whale-shaped oversized air transport entered service, the company announced Monday. Airbus plans to introduce a further five BelugaXLs by 2023, providing the European airframer the much-needed extra transport capacity it needs to support the ongoing production ramp-up of its commercial aircraft programs. The company delivered 863 aircraft to 99 customers in 2019, outpacing its previous output record set in 2018 by 8 percent and marking the 17th yearly production increase in a row,’according to the company. Its backlog at the end of 2019 stood at 7,482 aircraft.’

Airbus’ whale-themed BelugaXL cargo plane officially enters service

Airbus’s smiling, huge aircraft, the BelugaXL, officially entered service on Monday as a cargo plane designed to carry large aircraft parts.

The bizarre-looking BelugaXL is the largest version of the plane named for its similarity in shape with the beluga whale ‘ both are white with large, bulbous heads.
