Review:

Cowboys & Aliens was directed by Jon Favreau. As you may or may not know, he is the one who brought us Iron Man and Iron Man 2. I think that this is the main, not the only, cause for me to watch his film of 2011. Cowboys & Aliens shows us a story about Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig). I am well aware that the title isn’t “Jake Lonergan & Aliens”; however, it felt like he was the main character and everyone else was just an additional part, even Woodrow Dolarhyde played by famous Harrison Ford.Jake is a really charismatic character, totally thanks to one of my favourite actors. He can’t remember a thing neither about his life, nor about himself. That’s why, he goes off in quest for the answers.

He finds himself in a small town and meets there a mysterious beauty, Alice (Olivia Wilde). In addition, he receives a huge “package” of surprises:

a) Angry sheriff, who wants to get the huge prize for Jake’s head;
b) Angry colonel Dolarhyde, who wants to get back the gold that was stolen by Jake;
c) Aliens. Though they aren’t angry particularly at Jake, they try hard to get his head, as well. :)

Which option would you prefer? Well, it doesn’t really matter, since Jake has to choose all three at the same time. Which is why, Cowboys & Aliens is simply filled with action! There are all these shootings, fightings and a huge “Firework” at the end; you’ll figure out from what exactly, on your own. ;-)

Now, what I didn’t like about this movie is the lack of “global conflict”. You see, when I hear “Alien Invasion”, I expect to see the whole human race fighting, or at least a whole country.

Here, there is even no army involved; which really disappoints me, because it is just a fight between a group of people and a group of aliens. By the way, this fact contributes to the feeling that the whole story is about Jake Lonergan….

However, since he is played by Daniel Craig, I don’t really care and rate Cowboys & Aliens 9 out of 10.
